This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring HSSE policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment. The HSSE Specialist I will work closely with operational teams to promote safety awareness and ensure adherence to regulatory and company standards.Responsibilities

Support, implement, and maintain HSSE policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, national, and international regulations
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with HSSE regulations and standards
Monitor and report on HSSE performance metrics, including incident rates and compliance levels
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective and preventive action plans
Identify and assess potential hazards and risks associated with operations
Implement risk management strategies and control measures
Conduct risk assessments and safety audits for new projects, processes, and equipment.
Deliver HSSE training programs and workshops for employees
Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness across the organization
Ensure that all personnel are aware of and adhere to HSSE policies and procedures
Maintain emergency response plans and procedures
Conduct emergency drills and simulations to test response readiness
Coordinate with emergency response teams and external agencies as needed
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting and documentation
Maintain accurate records of HSSE activities, incidents, inspections, and training
Prepare and present HSSE reports and updates to management
Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in HSSE
Recommend and implement improvements to enhance HSSE performance and compliance

QualificationsQualifications

Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
4+ years of experience in HSSE role
Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, BCSP: (CSP, SMS, OHST, CHST)
Understanding and Implementation Strategies of IOGP International HSSE Standards and Life Saving Rules
Strong knowledge of HSSE regulations, standards, and best practices
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Ability to analyze complex situations, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement

Additional qualificationsBachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
