- Focal point in IPMT for welding engineering related issues, responsible to liaise with construction, engineering, NDT specialist as well as quality department to effectively resolve current issues and establish preventive methods throughout the project
- Advising on Welding Engineering related function and metallurgical consultative welding services to IPMT and Contractor for all areas onshore & offshore scope
- Ensures that Project Welding Execution Plan is being followed and that Contractor’s full scope of weld Procedures, schedule of qualification, quantity of welding consumables and materials required for qualifications and project execution are sufficiently implemented
- Review and comment on all project weld-NCR’s/CAR’s, procedures and technical queries
- Assists the company in resolving metallurgical, welding and quality related problems, through investigating cause of failures. 'Fit for Purpose' evaluations of non-conforming work
- Works closely with the IPMT site quality- and construction department on solving any welding related issues and advises on best solution regarding welding processes, sequences and metallurgical aspects
- Evaluates the performance of Contractor’s welders and welding engineering department
- Assures development of welding systems by Contractor meet project requirements
- Bachelor's degree (S1) in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
- Possession of relevant certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Engineer (CWE), certifications in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods like ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, or magnetic particle testing is desired.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in welding engineering, preferably in the oil and gas industry or related heavy construction projects. Experience with welding codes and standards such as ASME, API, AWS, and ASTM is essential.
- Proficiency in welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW. Familiarity with welding metallurgy, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and welding qualification procedures (PQR) is crucial. Knowledge of heat treatment processes and welding-related quality control measures.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to welding practices in the oil and gas sector, including safety protocols such as OSHA regulations and environmental regulations.
