- Support and oversee legal commercial, regulatory and corporate matters for Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore) and East Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan).
- Advise cross-functional stakeholders and provide pragmatic solutions in support of regional business initiatives, including analysis and assessment of new products, features, or business lines, or legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements for existing business activities.
- Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements, mainly SaaS (digital payments) agreements, as well as, occasionally, third-party vendor agreements, outsourcing or service agreements, and corporate group structuring agreements.
- Respond to enquiries from various functions, including management, Go To Market, Finance, Tax, Treasury, People Operations, Marketing, and Customer Support on applicable legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Instruct, coordinate, and manage external counsel networks throughout Southeast and East Asia.
- Oversee cross-functional projects within the region and coordinate with non-legal stakeholders.
- Work with a global team of lawyers who are agile, practical, solution-focused, and business-minded.
- Qualified to practice law in any of the covered Southeast Asia jurisdictions (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore).At least five (5) years post-qualification experience (PQE), with experience at a reputable leading law firm.
- Experienced in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions or agreements, including cross-border commercial work.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and risk assessment capabilities, with good judgment and commitment to delivering results.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills; comfortable in coordinating and communicating with non-legal stakeholders.
- Experience in fintech, payments and payments licensing, and/or e-commerce regulation is advantageous.
- Highly organised and independent, with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle pressure and work to challenging deadlines.
